DEVELOPING A TRANSIT MODULAR STANDARD

As seen in the presentation, let’s work together to create a new transit modular standard for HO. Inspired by FREEMO & T-Track, I’d ideally like to design a modular system that achieves a few important goals:

GOALS:

  1. Be interoperable with FREEMO and/or T-Track standards so that “heavy rail” can run alongside, or interoperate with the transit equipment depending on the region modeled.
  2. That module standards for ABOVE grade, AT grade, and underground are fully fleshed out.
  3. Modules from all over the world are build to the same standard so people visiting from far off places can bring their own to run on larger systems.
  4. We work together to make a library of 3D printed .STL files for elevated sections, platforms, stations, common lineside transit details, and other important features are available for people to print their own vs. hoping a manufacturer will produce niche items.
  5. We develop a standard for interlocking the modules that is more in tune with beginning modeler skills and that all construction is “apartment renter” friendly and doesn’t require the use of power tools in most cases.
  6. Let’s develop a place to further develop this standard out more, perhaps a groups.io or forum, or even here, with all the assets living somewhere and mirrored to other websites to avoid information or files being lost.
